One make, one metro
About this shop
This is a small independent repair shop working the Westside and central Los Angeles, on one make of equipment. Nothing here is a franchise desk that pages a subcontractor: the person who takes the call and the person who reads the appliance work off the same notes.
The reason for narrowing to Viking is dull and practical. Built-in grills, professional ranges and built-in refrigeration are unforgiving of guessing — the parts are expensive, the wiring is unfamiliar, and stone or cabinetry usually means one shot at getting the unit out. Working one make all week is how you learn where the plate hides on each generation, which igniter glows and which clicks, and which faults look identical and are not. The outdoor bench is the larger half of that week.
What we do not do: emergency plumbing, gas line runs to the meter, cabinetry, or new appliance sales. If a kitchen needs any of those first we will say so and get out of the way.

01 How it runs
A visit, start to finish
The $89 service call buys the visit and the full diagnosis, and it comes off the repair the moment you approve one. Nothing else is added without you agreeing to it first, and the figure for the work is agreed before a panel comes off.
-
On the phone
Three things: how it behaves now, how it behaved last week, and the number off the plate if the plate is reachable. That narrows most calls before anyone sets off.
-
At the appliance
Meter, gauges, flame pattern, current draw. You get told what failed and what putting it right involves, with the price agreed before a panel comes off.
-
Afterwards
The old part stays with you if you want to see it, the appliance gets run up and tested, and the $89 visit comes off the bill.
Where we go
02 Before you call anybody
Four things not to wait on
Each of these wants something done before the phone is picked up, including before you ring us.
-
Gas at the grill
Turn every knob off, shut the supply valve under the island or close the cylinder valve, and walk away from it — do not lift the hood to look. Ring the gas utility, or 911 if it is strong. Nobody, us included, should be hunting a leak with the gas still on.
-
A gas smell that does not clear
Stop cooking, shut the valve behind or below the range, open a window and leave the door open. Ring the gas utility first. We can look at the manifold and the fittings after they have cleared it.
-
Anything scorched, or water reaching an outlet
Kill the breaker for that circuit rather than pulling the appliance out over a wet floor. Then call — a browned connector is a part, not a write-off, but it does not want to be run again first.
-
A built-in that has stopped cold
Move what matters to another fridge and keep the doors shut. A full compartment holds temperature for hours, and every opening costs you some of that.
The line is answered 24/7 on (213) 600-7131. Work itself is carried out 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.
Tell us what it is doing
A phone call and two minutes of description usually narrows it down before anyone gets in the van.
$89 for the visit and the diagnosis, credited against the repair. Work carried out 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.
